For any Fantasy Premier League managers that were about to right the season off given their early struggles, your luck could be about to change!

FPL have confirmed a new chip will be available to players in 2025 – and rest assured some help is on the way if you were just about to delete the app for good.

There are three “chips” currently available to anyone who plays the game, which include a free hit of unlimited transfers that resets after one week, a wildcard to completely revamp your squad for the future and a bench boost which allows the points from players not in the starting 11 to count towards the weekly total.

Now, if your season really has been THAT bad, you have likely used them all by now in a desperate attempt to break the 50-point barrier for the first time, but you can take some comfort from the fact help from the experts is on the way.

It was confirmed prior to the 2024/25 season beginning that a “mystery chip” would be introduced halfway through the season and the details of this addition have now been confirmed.

Players will now be given an assistant manager, which allows them to pick one of the 20 managers in the Premier League to help them earn points.

A statement released by Fantasy Premier League confirmed the full details of the new aspect to the game, which read:

“The chip will be available from Gameweek 24 in January and can be played at any point thereafter in 2024/25.

“When you activate the chip and choose your Assistant Manager, you will score points for their club’s results for three Gameweeks in a row.

“Once the chip is activated, choosing your Assistant Manager does not cost a “free transfer”. But if you want to change your manager during this three-Gameweek period it will cost a transfer in exactly the same way as players.

“Remember, you can only play one chip in a Gameweek. So if you activate the Assistant Manager chip in Gameweek 24, you won’t be able to use another chip until Gameweek 27.

“If a manager leaves their club, Fantasy managers who own or bring in that Assistant Manager will still score based on the original club’s performance.”
