Biden calls Elon Musk’s relationships with other countries a ‘worthy of being considered

President Joe Biden stated that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Twitter, was worthy of being examined. However, he declined to give any details.

Biden stated that Elon Musk’s cooperation with/or technical relations with other countries was worthy of scrutiny, regardless of whether he is acting inappropriately. “But that’s all that I’ll say.”

The President replied to a reporter asking “How?”: “There are many ways.”

Bloomberg reported that officials from the Biden administration were discussing whether

to subject some of Musk’s ventures, including the Twitter acquisition, to national security reviews just before Musk made his $44 billion purchase. When asked, the administration denied the report and cited sources familiar with the matter.

Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the National Security Council said that she did not know of any such conversations. A Treasury spokesperson stated that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States does not comment publicly on transactions it might or may not be reviewed under law or practice.

Several foreign entities were among the equity investors that committed to financing Musk’s deal, including the Qatar sovereign wealth funds and the Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. These entities were already some of the largest investors in Twitter before Musk’s proposal.
