Ed Sheeran buys $12M Brooklyn Heights condo

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is a renter-turned-buyer at a Brooklyn Heights condo.

An entity linked to Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, paid just under $12 million for a unit at 130 Furman Street, where Sheeran previously rented an apartment for $36,000 a month, according to public records. The deal, which closed earlier this month, appears to have been off-market.

Sheeran rented a different apartment in the building, Toll Brothers’ Pierhouse at Brooklyn Bridge Park, in 2023 and marked the most expensive rental deal in the borough that year. That same apartment, Unit S405, was later rented to a New York-based athlete before hitting the market in October for $38,000 a month.

The couple purchased Unit S407 under the company Patrick Walker LLP, which is registered to their names in the United Kingdom. The apartment last traded in 2017, when Compass broker Jillian Woods and her husband, Jordan Woods, bought it from the developers for $6.1 million.

A previous listing for the condo states the unit spans 3,400 square feet and has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It also features a terrace.

Woods confirmed she was the seller of the apartment, but did not respond to a request to comment.

Earlier this month, another condo at the building landed among the top contracts signed in Brooklyn when it found a buyer with an asking price of $7.5 million. The apartment, Unit S113, previously sold for $5 million.

Sales launched at the building, developed by Toll Brothers City Living and Starwood Capital Group, in 2014. It has since attracted a number of celebrity buyers, including rapper Kendrick Lamar, who bought a duplex for $8.6 million in 2023.

Amenities at the 100-unit waterfront building include 24-hour attended lobbies, two fitness centers and a garage with electric vehicle charging stations.

Homes in Brooklyn Heights routinely crown weekly contract reports on the borough. The usual properties to land at the top are townhouses, though some condos have also snagged expensive deals. A unit at 118 Remsen Street found a buyer last month with an asking price of $7.3 million.

The priciest sale in the neighborhood’s history was a townhouse at 8 Montague Terrace, which sold for $25 million in 2020.
