A 5-mile traffic backup is being reported Thursday morning on I-65 southbound after a fatal crash led to a semi-truck becoming engulfed in flames, according to the Indianapolis State Police.
The crash occurred just south of Southport Road, according to John Perrine, information officer for the Indianapolis State Police.
Perrine confirmed that this was a single-vehicle fatal crash.
State police have closed southbound lanes as firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department get the fire under control.

According to Indiana’s trafficwise portal, traffic into Indianapolis on I-65 is backed up to the County Line Road exit as of 11:45 a.m.
