MAGA nation is out for blood after Donald Trump officially became a convicted felon.
At his sentencing on Friday, the president-elect received no punishment for attempting to cover up a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels to stop her speaking about their affair, which Trump denies took place.
Despite receiving an unconditional discharge by Judge Juan Merchan, it didn’t stop Trump, his political allies, and his highest-profile supporters from calling for payback.
Soon after the Zoom hearing ended, Trump unleashed a rambling, irate tirade on Truth Social.
“The Radical Democrats have lost another pathetic, unAmerican Witch Hunt,” he wrote, proceeding to rehash his often repeated laundry list of complaints about bias, corruption, and unfairness.
Trump, who’s set to take office on Jan. 20, concluded his rant by hinting at retribution.
“Today’s event was a despicable charade,” he said, “and now that it is over, we will appeal this Hoax, which has no merit, and restore the trust of Americans in our once great System of Justice. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The call for revenge was echoed, even more emphatically, by MAGA pundit Charlie Kirk, who took to X soon after the hearing.
“The people who went after Trump should be investigated and charged,” he wrote. “All of them. Justice is coming.”
The mantle was also taken up by another prominent MAGA influencer, Trump’s lawyer and adviser Mike Davis. In an appearance on a far-right livestream show on Friday, Davis issued an ominous warning.
“Right now, the Democrats think they’re the hunters,” he said. “But guess what, on Jan. 20, at noon, they’re going to become the hunted. And I’m going to make damn sure of that.”
The list of people Trump has blamed for his conviction is lengthy, but his most frequent targets include Merchan, the judge who oversaw his case, and Democratic leaders like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Trump’s most notoriously outspoken allies, called out the judge by name.
“Judge Merchan engaged in criminal abuse of power to attack the Democrat’s top political opponent, Donald Trump,” she alleged on X. “Shamefully, Judge Merchan and the Democrats didn’t perceive terrorists, cartels, and everyday street criminals as threats to democracy.”
Another of Trump’s top supporters in the House, Nancy Mace, railed against the left and echoed his allegations of unfairness soon after the sentencing.
“This is so corrupt,” she posted on X. “The most corrupt. They’re only doing this today, 10 days before his swearing in, so the Left and the lamestream media can call him a convicted felon for the next 4 years.”
“I’m with the convicted felon. #MAGA,” she added in a separate post.
Bernie Moreno, the freshly elected Ohio senator whose campaign was supported by the president-elect, was similarly incensed by the hearing.
“The only crime committed in the fake New York case against President Trump was in that court room,” he said on X.
Loudly disavowing the “SHAM TRIAL and a HOAX SENTENCING!,” Rep. Ronnie Jackson, meanwhile, argued that the result was only a short-term defeat for the president-elect.
“Trump will win in the end and America wins in 10 days when we get Trump back!!” he wrote on X.
The sentencing hearing came after Trump was convicted on 34 counts related to falsifying business documents to cover up a hush money payment to the porn star Stormy Daniels.
Although Trump will not face prison time, fines, or probation, he will carry the distinction of being the first convicted felon to serve as president.
