A winter storm warning has been issued for the Binghamton area, calling for snowfall to begin Thursday afternoon and continue into Friday.
The National Weather Service is predicting snowfall to hit parts of Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania. Higher elevations are expected to see accumulations of up to eight inches while lower elevations may see up to four inches.
The storm will begin Thursday at 4 p.m. and continue into Friday, ending around 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued various winter weather advisories for parts of Delaware, Sullivan and Ulster counties in New York, as well as counties across the border in Pennsylvania.
As of Thursday, those advisories were updated to include Broome County, and elevated to a winter storm warning.

How to stay safe
With snowfall rates of one to three inches per hour in spots overnight, the National Weather Service predicts hazardous conditions to look out for on the Friday morning commute.
Heavy snowfall could bring down trees and wires due to the weight of the snow, so keep an eye out for road closures and hazards on the way to work.
It is suggested to travel only if it is necessary. When on the road, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
